Membership Moment: Erika Morrow

 
 
Erika Morrow of ForSight talked about her work and offered the follow advice for summertime eye health:
  • Make sure to wear eye protection while working in the yard with power equipment.
  • Wear UV protective eyewear if you're out in the sun.
  • Eat plenty of greens. They are good for your eyeballs. 

 


Infinite Possibilities series celebrates women in Rotary 

The first Infinite Possibilities series is now underway with the following speakers scheduled:

Oct. 30: Very Special Guest Speaker, Hosted by RI Director Stephanie Urchick

Classification Talk: Ellen Harris

Ellen talked about her work in historic preservation, including her service at the Chatham County-Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission's Historic Preservation Department, teaching at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and launching her own consulting firm, Ethos.
 
The firm offers preservation planning, historic tax credit and tax freeze applications, grant writing, historic resources surveys,  historic structure reports, grant writing and more.  Ellen earned a bachelor's degree in medieval studies from the University of Birmingham and a master of fine arts degree in historic preservation from SCAD. 
 

Know someone interested in becoming a Metro Savannah member?

Here's the summary of the New Member Process:

Guests interested in joining must attend one service project and two meetings, and find two Metro Rotarians to serve as sponsors. They must submit an application and pay the $200 New Member Program Fee to begin New Member Program, fulfill the 5 Step New Member Program, and pay prorated annual dues before induction.

New Member Program:

  1. Learn about Rotary; read ABC's of Rotary

  2. Prospective member attends Group Meeting No. 1: Orientation with a Membership Committee Member and Sponsors to provide background on Metro and Rotary International.

  3. Prospective Member gives a Classification Talk.

  4. Prospective Member attends Group Meeting No. 2 with representatives of Membership, Foundation, and a Past President to learn about a) ways to contribute to the Foundation and how the funds are used, b) Annual Service Project and c) Induction. 

  5. Prospective Member serves as a greeter at two lunch meetings (in the future after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted).
