Featured Speaker

Dave Lake, station manager at WRUU, was the speaker at the Oct. 20 meeting. He discussed how the all-volunteer community radio station has grown since it began broadcasting in 2017 and described WRUU's mix of music, public affairs, news, and cultural programming. In 2019 the station was selected as Best Local Radio Station and Best Talk Radio Station in the annual Connect Savannah Best of Savannah readers' poll. Because of the pandemic, the noncommercial station had to cancel its largest fundraising events and is now depending on donations from listeners to keep the station on the air. The station currently has more than 60 volunteers producing programs. Proposals for new shows can be submitted via the station's website.
